In this CIC Personal Lines course, you will focus on the Property and Casualty insurance industry, covering topics related to Personal Residential, Personal Auto, and Personal Umbrella or Excess Policies. Through exploring the intricacies of policy coverages, limitations, and exclusions you will be able to identify risks and coverage gaps of personal lines clients, offer coverage solutions, and learn how to respond in the event of a loss.

Personal Residential Coverages (8 Hours)
Learn how to address homeowners’ questions about what types of policies best suit their individual needs. This section provides information about eligibility requirements and different valuation methods for insured property under Homeowners and Dwelling policies. Understand the ISO Homeowners Policy Form and how to address Property and Liability coverages, limitations, exclusions, and other policy provisions.
Personal Automobile Coverages (6 Hours)
Gain in-depth knowledge of coverage afforded and not afforded by the Personal Auto Policy (PAP), including how to identify “who is an insured” and what is a “covered auto.” Develop your understanding of each coverage part of the PAP, including Liability, Medical Payments/PIP, Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists, and Damage to Your Auto. Examine important endorsements that can be used to provide additional coverage for your clients.
Personal Umbrella/Excess Coverages (2 Hours)
Help your clients understand the similarities and differences between Umbrella Insurance and Excess Liability Insurance, including general provisions and exclusions, and the relationship to primary insurance. Learn how to communicate the importance of Personal Umbrella/Excess Liability coverages to your client, as an integral piece of their personal financial and insurance programs.

Jerry owned and managed an agency in Grand Coulee, Washington, for over 40 years. He has long been an advocate of professional continuing education having earned his CIC designation in 1983 and is a National Faculty member and Educational Consultant for the Risk & Insurance Education Alliance. Active in the industry, Jerry served on the technical committee of the Independent Agents of Washington and chaired the Far West Agents conference, a technical forum with Insurance Services Office. He currently serves as faculty for IIAA's Virtual University. Jerry was honored by the PIA of Washington/Alaska as "Agent of the Year" in 1994 and served as President of the Association in 1997-1998. Jerry is an active volunteer in his community and in 1995 was named "Business Person of the Year" by the Grand Coulee Dam Chamber of Commerce.

Nicole Sherrill-Wyatt

Nikki Sherrill-Wyatt is a Claims Manager with Pennsylvania National Mutual Casualty Insurance Company. Nikki started her claims career with Penn National in 1995 where she has remained throughout her insurance career. Nikki oversees the automobile and property lines of business in claims for the states of North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. She also trains claim representative trainees for Penn National Insurance. She enjoys teaching college graduates about insurance and claims handling in this program. She developed the curriculum for this program, where candidates have been successfully trained, hired and promoted throughout the company. Nikki also works as a Claims Alliance for the independent agents in her territory. She is charged with making sure the customer experience during the claims process is simple, timely and professional on all levels. Her focus is on customer service at all times. She is proud to have had a long career in claims and have the ability to teach others to love claims as well. Nikki earned a degree in Economics. She earned her CIC designation in 2018, and also holds the CPCU, SCLA, AIS, AIM, API, AIC, and AINS designations.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in 1981 and holds the CIC and CPIA designations. Scott has taught for CISR, CIC, LUTCF, CPIA and other professional development courses and speaks to various civic groups. He has also taught insurance related curriculum to high school students.
